On Sunday 2nd March, a memorial concert was held at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon, to celebrate the life of Derek Watkins, a musician who played on every James Bond soundtrack. This would have been his 69th birthday.
The concert was held to raise funds for Sarcoma UK, a small charity which researches the rare disease Mr Watkins died from in 2013.

Earlier this month Fulham resident Robin Bath won the £1000 prize for a national photo competition designed to capture the beauty of stone memorials.
The Memorial Awareness Board (MAB) runs the annual competition that challenges the public to take two photos, one representing the ‘then’ and one representing the ‘now’. It's an opportunity to showcase memorials 'unsung beauty'.

Do you know what the official St David’s Day flag is?
Well it adorned the window of the Ashford branch of Lodge Brothers recently.
Often only the Red Dragon is seen, but the yellow cross on black background commemorates St David, just as the other patron saints have their own crosses on flags.

St David’s Day was celebrated last week at our flagship Feltham Branch with a fabulous window display of over three hundred daffodils and leeks.
Branch Arranger Dora Manning said, ‘Many people commented on our St. David’s Floral Display as daffodils mean that Spring is in the air, and after the weather of late, that is a welcome sight. It also makes a change to the more traditional Welsh Flag.’

Hounslow Rotary Club recently held a meal at the Mirsch Masala Indian Restaurant in Hounslow to help raise funds to eradicate Polio world-wide.
District Manager and Hounslow Rotary Club President Quentin Edgington, said, “This was a great evening to help raise funds to eradicate Polio. We raised £193 which will be trebled to £579, thanks to the Bill Gates Foundation.”
