TV star lights up refurbished village

TV presenter Michael Aspel switched on the Christmas lights at Whiteley Village and was joined by more than 160 residents, staff, trustees and friends of the Hersham retirement village.

Beforehand, council leader and Hersham councillor John O’Reilly unveiled a plaque to mark the end of Whiteley Village’s £33 million, 10 year refurbishment programme which saw all of its 260 Grade II listed cottages modernised.
