The ‘Artist in Residence’ Scheme at St James Church in Weybridge was created as a way of bringing the Weybridge community together in an arts programme, involving businesses, schools and residents. The idea is that the community works together under the guidance of artist Claire Reed, to create art, not just pictoral but also in words, music and light.
Hundreds of people got involved in the project and some attended Claire’s workshops learning to draw and make the beautiful spheres that adorned the three whicker trees that were lit up in the church gardens.
Sharon Brunn, Funeral Arranger for Lodge Brothers, took part in the scheme and produced many spheres as shown here next to her handiwork. Many pieces of Claire’s personal art are on display around the town.
Lodge Brothers valuable sponsorship has allowed the project to take place over three month.
