Bill Wilde presents the trophy to winner Ray Probert

The Lodge Brothers Snooker Challenge, sponsored by Lodge Brothers and hosted by the Esher War Memorial Club, proved to be a marathon event as competitors fought it out for the trophy.

With kick off at 11:00am, the Final was eventually played at around 9:00pm with all the club members in attendance, watching an exciting finish to the competition.

Sandra Keywood, Branch Funeral Arranger from Lodge Brothers in Esher and also a member of the committee of the club, made ploughmans lunches which were sold to raise money alongside the Challenge entry fees, with all proceeds donated to the Princess Alice Hospice, in Esher.

Local ale, brewed by one of the residents, was also sold with 50p per pint donated to the charity.

Bill Wilde, District Manager for Lodge Brothers said, “This was a fantastic opportunity to raise funds for our local hospice, and I am very grateful to the Esher War Memorial Club for hosting our Snooker Challenge at no cost to us. Working with the local community on behalf of Lodge Brothers is something that both Sandra (Branch Arranger) and I enjoy, so it was a pleasure to attend and present the trophies on behalf of Lodge Brothers.”
