Celebrating Employee Ownership – The Future in Our Hands

The 20th of June 2025 marks the thirteenth year of the annual Employee Ownership Day (EO Day) – a national campaign celebrating the growth and impact of employee-owned businesses across the UK.

Thirteen years ago, Employee Ownership officially gained royal assent and was written into UK law. At that time, there were just 152 employee-owned businesses. Fast forward to today, and that number has grown to over 2,250 – a remarkable shift in how business is done.

Lodge Brothers is proud to be part of that story. As the first funeral directors in the UK to become employee owned, we’ve ensured the continuation of the values and standards passed down by the Lodge family over eight generations. This move not only safeguarded our legacy but empowered every employee to be a stakeholder in the future of our business.

To mark EO Day 2025, Lodge Brothers held its first official Employee Forum meeting – a milestone moment. These regular meetings are a cornerstone of our employee-owned ethos, giving our staff a real voice in shaping decisions that impact both their working lives and the services we provide to families.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to honouring our heritage while evolving through collaboration, transparency, and shared purpose.
