Staines bid a sad farewell last week to the late Mrs Ellen Watson aged 111 years. Mrs Watson was the third eldest person in the country and just short of her 112th birthday when she passed away.
Mrs Watson has resided in Meadowside Care Home in Staines for the last 10 years, where she was very happy and made many friends amongst the staff and other residents.

Lodge Brothers, the family run funeral directors, recently gave a cheque for £268 to the Woodlands Centre for Dementia Care based at Hillingdon Hospital.

For the second year running J.Monk & Sons, Guildford’s family run funeral directors, have hosted a Carol Service of Remembrance at the URC Church, Guildford. The service was held for families who, over the last twelve months or so, have lost a loved one in the area.
