Lodges in Lycra

May 17th, 2012

It makes a change from the formal attire they wear to work but here looking fetching in matching blue and white Lycra are Robert Lodge, Andrew Lodge and Chris Lodge together with friends Mike Faers and Bob Harris, husband of Beverley Lodge at the start of their epic cycle ride from London to Paris.

ALL IN A GOOD CAUSE
They are all smiling now but 234 miles is a long way on a bike and there’s going to be some pain ahead! But then it’s all in a good course as all five are fund raising for a very worthwhile charity.

Robert, Andrew, Chris, Mike and Bob are all cycling to Paris for the British Lung Foundation and specifically for research into Pulmonary Fibrosis. This is a cause close to their hearts as it was from Pulmonary Fibrosis that Robert’s mother died in May 2010 after suffering for eighteen months

GOOD LUCK TO THEM ALL
It all starts from Blackheath in London early on the 18th of May. We wish them all the very best of luck.

Caring for staff as well as clients

Local family-owned funeral director Lodge Brothers has won the honour of an Investors In People Award. The award recognises the Company’s outstanding dealings with its own employees, as it strives to provide a better working environment.

Director, Beverley Lodge, explained; “The programme promotes good working relationships between staff and makes sure they are getting the right direction. It helps to ensure the company is working for the good of the employees. If our staff are happy and feel valued, this reflects in the service we give to our clients. Without their hard work and loyalty, the business would not be such a success.”

The Lodge family funeral business was started in Feltham back in 1780 by James Lodge. For seven generations, successive family members have continued serving the local communities in Middlesex, South West London, Bedfordshire, Wiltshire and Surrey, and today, the company is still run by six members of the Lodge family.

Lodge Brothers prepaid funeral plan scheme and Heirtrace unite families with assets

March 22nd, 2012
Lodge Brothers and Heirtrace are working together to ensure that members’ assets are not being retained in Trust when they should have been rightfully returned to their heirs.
Lodge Brothers are the first in the industry to proactively screen their member database to ensure they are not holding member funds for pre-paid funerals that have already been conducted. If this was the case they have undertaken detailed research to locate the next of kin and repay them any monies still held in Trust.
Lodge Brothers have enlisted industry specialists Heirtrace Limited, to conduct this exercise on their behalf. This involved seeking up-to-date address and personal details for members.  A number of deaths of members, unbeknown to Lodge Brothers, were identified during the work conducted by Heirtrace.
Mike Lodge of Lodge Brothers states, “We have a moral obligation to do the best by our clients and their loved ones.  If a prepaid funeral scheme member has died and we have not conducted the funeral then we have a duty to reimburse those funds to their heirs.”
As a company which prides itself with reunifying people with assets, and with specific expertise with identifying the legal heirs to assets, Heirtrace were more than happy to assist Lodge Brothers in their efforts. “Heirtrace takes a personal interest in uniting people with assets that rightfully belong to them” says Danielle Higgins, Managing Director, “we are impressed by the initiative taken by Lodge Brothers who have shown true commitment to their customers, by tackling this prominent issue head on.”
To date Lodge Brothers and Heirtrace have reunited four policy funds with their rightful owners and this works continues. It is hoped by the results of the work carried out by Lodge Brothers and Heirtrace that it may spur on other Funeral Pre Payment firms to conduct similar exercises to raise the standards across the industry.
