Our father passed away at the end of March, just as the country had entered into almost complete lockdown in the face of COVID-19.
We wondered, what, if any arrangements, we would be able to make but our first thought was to contact Lodge Brothers in Weybridge, as they had been marvellous when helping us with our mother’s funeral arrangements in late 2012.
Mel Ponting was our main contact and, from the first telephone conversation, offered us helpful, compassionate and welcome support. Mel guided us with care and kindness as we made our choices, for what we quickly realised would be a very different sort of funeral.
We are extremely thankful for Mel’s expert guidance and thoughtful care to ensure everything went as well as it could. The team on the day of the funeral were also fantastic – professional, discreet, dignified and almost invisible, everything you would want in the circumstances. We were also contacted the evening before to reassure and respectfully confirm arrangements.
All in all, we cannot recommend Lodge Brothers highly enough – the team at Weybridge are a fine example of true professionalism and compassionate care.

It was far more than I expected and it was so good that all our family could experience it too. I am really grateful to you for making my father’s funeral as good as it could be in these strange times. Please convey my sincere thanks to all involved. Dear Mel,
I cannot thank you enough for your friendly support and help in dealing with my wife’s funeral arrangements, especially with the added problems associated with the coronavirus. I am very appreciative of the way everything was carried out culminating with the actual funeral itself yesterday. The choice of Hazel to conduct the service couldn’t have been better with everyone expressing extremely favourable comments.

Dear Mel,
As expressed yesterday, a HUGE thank you to everyone involved. Both yourself and Jackie led us through that dreaded initial discussion very well and were equipped with good advice. You subsequently followed through on everything we discussed in an extremely expedient manner and I thank you for your patience with working with me, as I tirelessly came back again and again on detail. I was amazed to receive a phone call from Daniel on a Sunday afternoon to finalise the arrangements for the following day and for him to put into place everything we discussed, even down to sourcing a tripod to steady the phone camera – inspired suggestion! Also for getting the timing spot on!
The floral tributes were truly stunning and Daniel again came up with a nice touch… to dry and press the roses to insert individually into the wonderful Memorial books for use when we are finally able to lay Dad’s ashes to rest. And even the booklets (which in the end were bespoke) were presented to me with envelopes for posting – what a considerate touch. Nothing I requested seemed too much trouble.
I have been told by the few mourners we were allowed, that WE (Lodge Brothers Weybridge and myself) really did my Dad proud in the circumstances.

We would like to thank you for arranging the most beautiful, perfect funeral for Mum. Everything you did was carried out with dignity, kindness and friendliness. Communication was superb and professional, we were particularly grateful for the effort you put into finding us a religious minister to conduct the service. Lodge Brothers made a difficult time pleasant.
The day of the service ran smooth and we could not fault it in any way. It really made a tremendous difference to our family that we were looked after by someone with genuine integrity and humanity. Our friends and family all said that it was one of the nicest funerals that they have ever been too. Melanie, you are an asset to the company.

Thank you so much for a perfect day in these hugely difficult times. We are all immensely grateful for the care, compassion, attention to detail and above all friendliness that surrounded every aspect of my mother’s funeral.
The day was everything we could possibly have wished for and certainly what shen would have wanted. The lovely Lodge Bros staff and quite wonderful celebrant, Hazel Olde, the beautiful wicker coffin and flowers, and the delightful surroundings of the new and architecturally gorgeous Guildford Crematorium, the discreet and friendly welcome by John and team, all made for a truly special and memorable occasion.
The whole family is immensely grateful to have been able to celebrate my mothers life in such a simple and exquisite way, made possible by all of you.

Just to say a very big thank you for all your help and support with L’s funeral.  You were all very professional, reassuring and so supportive during this very difficult time, despite some of the issues which you also had to contend with.  M was also thankful that he was able to see his father in the chapel of rest late in the morning as well and thank you for my very welcome cup of coffee!

Dear Andrew,
I wanted to write and say thank you so much for all that you did last Thursday regarding my sister’s send off! I know you know my brother-in-law but not sure if you met her! Perhaps you realised she was quite a character! Good to have so many friends and family there, some flew in from Holland and Spain especially which was great. However this is about you and your team, wonderful, so professional, kind and caring. Yes I know you do ‘lots’ but her’s seemed a bit unusual…..well I hope it was! Please do thank everyone from me, my husband, my daughters and my son. My sister also told us she wanted us to cry ‘buckets’ well that was managed!!! She would have loved it!
