Dedicated Hersham Doctor Served Village for Over 40 Years

May 20th, 2013

Last week, Lodge Brothers in Walton conducted the funeral of the late Dr Dewi Morgan, who served as a GP in Hersham for over 40 years. He died aged 89 at St George’s Nursing Home after contracting pneumonia.

His son, Dr Richard Morgan, a consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital said, “He brought a lot of young people in to the world in the Walton area, during his time as obstetrician at Rodney House”. He added his father would be on call during the night, visiting patients at home after hours, and his mother would be at home taking messages on the telephone.

He finally retired at the age of 70 in 1994, having given a further 5 years service to The Fort House Practice after his official retirement in 1989.

Dr Morgan, grandfather of five, was also a church warden at St Peters Church in Hersham, medical officer for Whiteley Village and was involved with Walton Charity.
