Carol Service of Remembrance held at Byfleet
A Carol Service of Remembrance, organised by local Funeral Director’s
G. Boutell & Son, was held at Byfleet Village Hall on Saturday 6th December.
Over 100 people attended the service which began with a welcoming address by Keith Hopkins of G. Boutell & Son followed by a reading by Rev. John McCabe of St. Mary’s Church in Byfleet. In between popular carols, other readings were given by Father Anthony Hale of Our Lady Help of Christian in West Byfleet and Janet Cornish of Funeral Directors J. Monk & Sons in Guildford.
Prayers were led by Rev. John McCabe and the closing speech and thanks was given by Andrew Lodge, Director of Lodge Brothers. Following the service mulled wine and refreshments were served to all visitors and guests.
Commenting on the success of the evening Andrew Lodge of Lodge Brothers, the seventh generation family of funeral directors who also own G. Boutell & Son and J. Monk & Sons, said “We were delighted with the attendance and as a family owned company helping local families in their time of need, we believe it is important to support community events such as this.”
