Dedication Service at refurbished Funeral Directors

Woodman & Son, the local funeral directors in Biggleswade for over 135 years, have totally refurbished their premises at 3 Market Square. To celebrate the completion of the work, a Service of Dedication is being held at the branch from 12.00 noon on Tuesday 11th November.

The guest of honour will be Councillor Peter Woodward, the Mayor of Biggleswade, who will be unveiling a commemorative plaque.

Following a brief introduction and welcome by Andrew Lodge, Director of Woodman & Son, a Dedication Service and Blessing of the Chapel of Rest will be led by local clergy. These include Rev. W. Thackray of St. Andrews Church, Rev. M. Dawes of Trinity Methodist Church and Canon M. Griffiths of St. Peters Church.

Other invited guests include doctors and care staff from local nursing and residential homes.

Prior to the unveiling of the commemorative plaque by the Mayor a short closing speech will be given by Robert Lodge, one of the six members of the Lodge family who are the seventh generation of their family to serve as funeral directors.

COMFORTING AND INFORMAL SURROUNDINGS FOR BEREAVED FAMILIES

The new décor and improved facilities at Woodman & Son have been designed to provide comforting and informal surroundings, including the refurbished Chapel of Rest and a private meeting room where families can discuss funeral arrangements.

Speaking about the work carried out at the Market Square premises, Andrew Lodge commented “As a family owned company, we are pleased to be able to serve local families from Biggleswade and surrounding villages. The improvements to these premises are part of our policy of providing the highest standards of care and personal service to the local community.”

The Woodman & Son branch in Biggleswade is managed by Nigel Anthony along with funeral arranger Christine Watts.
