| New Funeral Director has been serving bereaved families for seven generations
With over 225 years experience spanning over seven generations of their family, Lodge Brothers the new funeral director, that opened this week in St. Leonard’s Road Windsor, must be one of the oldest family owned businesses in the area.
Lodge Brothers was founded in 1780 by James Lodge and has been serving local families in their time of need ever since. Today, the business is wholly owned and run by six members of the Lodge family who are the seventh generation of funeral directors.
The premises at 47 St. Leonard’s Road have been totally refurbished to include a Chapel of Rest and private meeting room, where families can discuss funeral arrangements. The décor and furnishings have been specifically designed to provide comforting and tranquil surroundings for bereaved families.
The Windsor branch is being managed by Robert Lodge along with Kate Thulborn an experienced Funeral Arranger.
Speaking about their opening in Windsor, Robert Lodge commented “We were fortunate to find these premises and we have spent many weeks transforming them into a welcoming and peaceful place. The high quality of the décor and facilities are part of our policy of providing the highest standards of care and compassion to the local community.
“As a family owned local funeral directors, with branches throughout the area, we are pleased to now be able to serve local families in Windsor. We are the seventh generation of funeral directors in our family, a tradition we hope to continue for many generations to come.”
Unlike many funeral directors, formerly owned by individual families, who have joined major national groups, Lodge Brothers is run by Robert, his sister and four cousins.
Robert went on to say “It is a very privileged position to be a local funeral director because you get to help and comfort people at the worst moments of their lives. Our duty is to relieve families of the stress so they can get on with their grieving.”
