Odette becomes the first
female funeral director in Calne
After recently achieving the Diploma in Funeral
Directing Odette Carter, of E. Wootten & Son,
has become the only female funeral director in
Calne.
The Diploma is the highest qualification in the
UK funeral industry and is awarded by the Institute
of Leadership Management and the National Association
of Funeral Directors.
Odette, aged 38, lives in Lower Compton with
her husband and four children (boy and girl twins
aged 8; son aged 16 and daughter aged 18). She
has worked for E. Wootten & Son for seven
years, starting as a casual out of hours worker
and gradually working her way up to a full time,
fully qualified funeral director.
Odette says that becoming a funeral director
was a major aim in her life and even admits that
one of her favourite past times is looking around
churchyards and cemeteries.
Commenting on Odette receiving her qualification
Andrew Lodge of Lodge Brothers, the seventh generation
of local family owned funeral directors, who own
E. Wootten & Son said “Our company policy
is to invest in top quality training for our staff
so that we can provide the very best service to
local families. We are delighted with the commitment
and dedication shown by Odette in achieving the
Diploma.”
