Lodge Brothers & Wickenden Become Local Coordinators for Preemies UK

March 25th, 2014

photo 1Lodge Brothers & Wickenden Funeral Directors have recently become the local coordinator for Preemies UK, a ‘not-for-profit’ organization that aims to keep over 100 neonatal intensive care units across the country supplied with ‘tiny togs for tiny tots’. The charity relies on the handy-work of volunteers as the smaller-sized garments are not produced by any major companies.

Valerie Perkins and Kim McLaughlin from the Brentford and Ealing branches will collect items that have been knitted or crocheted by volunteers in the local community and care homes, and will facilitate the supply of materials and patterns to those who want to take part.

The Funeral Directors will be hosting a series of coffee mornings around the area where volunteers can get together.

Paul Bye, District Manager for Lodge Brothers, said: “This is a great cause, and our branches are ideally placed to act as reception points. We will provide materials and patterns, but will gratefully receive any donations of wool, buttons or ribbons that we can pass on to the volunteers.”

If you are interested in finding out more, take part or make a donation, please contact either Valerie at Brentford 0208 560 7499 or Kim at Ealing on 0208 567 0227.
