Funeral Directors organize party for Retired Reverend

April 4th, 2011

After 20 years as the Hospital Chaplain for the Hillingdon Hospital Trust, the man with the perfect name for the job, Richard Christian, has retired and to mark the occasion local funeral directors, Lodge Brothers, organised a party.

The event was held at the Red Lion in Hillingdon on the last day of March, the day Richard retired. All the chaplaincy team attended as did Robert Lodge, chairman of Lodge Brothers and Nigel Green-Smith the local branch manager and a good time was had by all. ‘Robert and I have both worked with Richard for many years,” said Nigel “and we were delighted to make sure he had a proper send off”

“I have learned massively about life from patients, their family and friends, colleagues and staff” said the Reverend Christian, “courage, dignity, penitence and forgiveness, acceptance, wisdom, bravery, celebration, commitment and humility in the face of awfulness and loss, has sustained an optimism which has led me never to regret joining the trust twenty years ago”
