England’s third oldest lady

January 13th, 2012

Staines bid a sad farewell last week to the late Mrs Ellen Watson aged 111 years. Mrs Watson was the third eldest person in the country and just short of her 112th birthday when she passed away.
Mrs Watson has resided in Meadowside Care Home in Staines for the last 10 years, where she was very happy and made many friends amongst the staff and other residents.
The Ashford branch of Lodge Brothers, the family owned Funeral Directors, carried out the arrangements and the service was held at Hanworth Crematorium where several generations of her family attended. The service was officiated by the Reverend Rod Cosh, Minister of St Peter’s Church in Staines. Robert Lodge, Chairman of Lodge Brothers said, “it is an honour and a privilege to have been chosen to help the family at this time.”
